Princess Hannah

She's got it all - brains, looks and personality. Her list of achievements is a mile long, and it's safe to say that Hannah is taking advantage of everything High School has to offer. She's got awesome grades, is the captain of her cheerleading squad AND was just crowned Homecoming Princess.

She gives teenagers a good name.

Landon

This is Landon. He's two. At least his parents tell me he's two. He looks two...speaks with a sweet baby sounding voice like he's two...but wow does he talk big. Smart, polite and so totally cute.

And silly.

He likes helicoptors, eating Smarties and hunting for sticks. Could do without worms and baby frogs, unless Daddy is nearby. Oh, and as long as he doesn't have to touch them.

Yup. He's two.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse...

...or Mice, should I say

Yes, I'm the City Mouse, but I'm sure learning that I could very easily be a country girl. So quiet and peaceful with plenty of wide open space. I really love it.

These kiddos are lucky enough to live out in the county on a big beautiful farm, complete with everything you'd hope for.

It was a beautiful evening spent with great company and beautiful children.

Family

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

Sure, I can pose people for a photo. But what I CAN'T do is convey emotions that aren't already there...

...that's something I've just learned to be patient and wait for.

We Interrupt Your Regular Programming...

...for a little bit of fun. And there won't even be one single picture in this post! Can you believe that?

I saw this on another photographer's blog while I was gawking around admiring her work the other day & thought I'd give it a-go, too.

I

I AM...almost 36.
I WANT...someone to clean my house & do the laundry.
I HAVE...a busy month ahead of me.
I KEEP...putting off unpacking from my trip last week.
I WISH I COULD...find the balance I really long for.
I HATE...how cluttered our little house feels these days.
I FEAR...mice.
I HEAR...Nick Jr on the television that I'm getting ready to turn off. Rachel will not be pleased.
I DON'T THINK...McCain will be president. Thank Goodness.
I REGRET...a few things here and there, but I believe where we've been makes us who we are.
I LOVE...pulling off of the side of the road & seeing this...

I AM NOT...out of my PJ's even though it's almost 1pm.
I DANCE...in the livingroom with the kids all the time.
I SING...constantly. I'm not kidding...ALL the time. Ask my friends - I think it drives them crazy.
I NEVER...get places early anymore.
I RARELY...get to bed before 1am.
I CRY WHEN I WATCH...the series finale of Roseanne, the episode of Grey's when Denny dies, The Bridges of Madison County...babies being born...lately when I'm frustrated.
I AM NOT ALWAYS...as together as I wish I could be. Okay, I'm NEVER.
I HATE THAT...the polish is chipping off of my fingernails. Means I'll have to take it off, I guess.
I'M CONFUSED ABOUT...why I can't seem to keep up with the laundry in this house.
I NEED...to get to work.
I SHOULD...get to work.
I HOPE...that no one rings the doorbell while I'm still in my PJ's.

Okay, so I lied. There was one pic in this post.

Matt

Man oh man was I having a bummer of a day today. Everything that could go wrong did. I'll spare you my griping...just take my word on it.

But this afternoon's session brought me back to life. It reminded me that I really dig what I'm doing and that I'm so lucky to be able to do it.

This is Matt. He's a Senior. Kinda cute, too.

Thanks, Matt. It was fun hanging out with you and you really made my day.

Observations From an Airport

I am a watcher - an observer. Always have been, but even more so now. I find myself studying people wherever I am...wondering where they come from and who they are. I study their faces - their eyes - they way they move & interact with those around them. It's amazing what you can see when you really stop and look.

Spend some time in the airport of a large city like Denver, and it's a feast for the senses. Languages you've never heard before...every cliché you've ever thought of...every color under the rainbow...irony left and right...stereotypes and social 'norms' as far as the eye can see.

And people. Lots and lots and lots of people.

My kinda place.

I spent time in the Denver area earlier in the week, and found myself in the airport Friday afternoon waiting on my flight home. First things first, though...Denver is glorious. Simply put, if there is a Heaven then it looks like the foothills of Denver and the mountains that surround it. Nowhere else can there possibly be bluer skies and clearer air.

Get there at your first opportunity. You must.

So. Back to reality and all that is a major metro airport. There are interesting sights everywhere you look...
Business men in suits who never once look up from their laptops
Moms wearing babies on their chests pushing strollers
University football team members in Dockers and ties with their fauxhawks
Priests wearing their collar with a backpack slung over their shoulders
Groups of nuns dressed head to toe in white giggling to each other, with Ipod earbuds in their ears
Same sex couples holding hands sharing icecream cones

And that was just in about 10 minutes. Fascinating. Everyone is so similar and yet so different....

Now, you didn't think I'd go all the way to Colorado and NOT snap a few pictures, did you?

See, glorious. I think I found my new favorite place.

Until next time
